Default Very Proud of My Little Girl!

I thought a trainging update was due, so here goes.

Bella has been doing very well recently. Now, I can call her off the couch and say heel and she will immediately sit or walk at my left side. I have taught her to target my hand with her nose, and to lick my cheek when i say kiss.
So now she can sit, stay, fetch, beg, up, jump on the couch, jump off the couch, jump, jump up on a table, come when called, target, heel and kiss. I am very proud of my little girl!!

You must be sooo proud of her and yourself.

It's so nice hearing about teenagers connecting with their pets.

Masha, I learnt how to teach her to heel at dog training, but this is the method the trainer taught us.

Hold the end of the lead in your right hand, and take up the slack with your left. tell your dog sit, and praise really well when they sit. then walk forward, and if the pull in any direction, gently bring them back again, saying heel. do this when ever they leave your side. then stop, ask them to sit, and praise. they need to learn whenever you stop, to sit at your side, but never infront of you. Walk again. Encourage them while they walk, but dont get them too excited. stop, sit, praise. walk, and this time ask the dog to follow your hand around, as you turn around in the direction you came. this is what the instructor called a round-about turn. Never turn to the inside of your dog, you dog must walk on the outside. Praise highly when they do this. stop, sit praise. Then turn to the right, with doggie on the outside. get them to follow your hand around, praise. Practise these, especially the sit when you stop and the heel. these are most important, cos these could help save your dogs life oneday.
