Default Brockies Placement of His Business...

    Hi there,

new member here and i thought someone on a forum could help me out.

At my old house, Brockie would always leave his business up in the far corner of our property (which i gave him plenty of encouragement for when i went up there to pick it up once a week)

Then, without notice (it may have been because i was changing his food so he might not know when his business is coming to plan where to do it) he started doing it mid lawn which he doesn't like (evident by him eating it which the vet has told me is a sign he is trying to clean up his environment).

At our new house im yet to find any business of Brockies, so im assuming he has gone back to his old ways...how should i approach it from here? Im worried if i do what ive done before, we will be back to mid lawn business in no time

    Any opinion is

    thanks!

ps heres a piccy cause i can

    I would agree!

My suggestion to you is maybe Brockie is constipated from the change of food, stress of new home etc. Give him some sardines mixed in with his regular food, and keep a close eye on him. This should soften his stool and he'll be able to pass it comfortably.
I'm not an expert, this is just an suggestion

If you want him to go in the same place, put him on the lead & take him to place you want him to go, you may have to be patient to wait for him to go but when he does praise him, do this a few times until he gets the idea.

Once a week is a fairly long time between clean ups.

Look, there are a lot of different theories as to why dogs eat their faeces, but the one your vet has given you is one I haven't heard for a long time! Lol. But let's say for argument sake it is true, shall we...doesn't that indicate that you need to clean up a bit more often???

A lot of dog owners do a regular poo-patrol once a DAY, not once a week. That could certainly help your problem.
Is there a particular reason you were only doing it once a week at your old house?
If you are not finding any faeces at the new place since you moved in, then yeah, obviously he's doing the same thing.
Are you not home during the day, and therefore can't pick it up once he goes to the toilet? If you're not home, then pick them up and dispose of them as soon as you get home, and then first thing in the morning. See how that goes.

rightio, ill get onto it more often - im not sure why but its always stuck me as a weekly job (i used to live on 10 acres so my old dogs had a bit of room to spread theirs around haha)

i have found some today in the back corner which is great, i think the me taking him there on the lead probably wouldn't work, and he one of those dogs who doesn't stay in one spot when business is in mind lol, he spins around about 10 times then half wanders while engaging in the process

    thanks for your replies

Lol. Know what you mean - used to have a female Shepherd who did just that!

10 acres is kind of different, yeah, but now that it's not 10 acres, clean it up immediately, then continue doing every day. Cheers.
