she is 7 weeks and you have had her for 2 weeks????? hmmmmm

Crate training should be done slowly! You can not expect a 7 week old puppy to not soil the crate. Was this puppy bought from a pet shop?

You got her at 5 weeks? OMG to my mind that is criminal she was let go so young unless there are big circumstances why, death of the mother etc. There is so much learning and socialisation that is done in the litter. That being said, you have her now. I would be putting her out very very often. From watching my nearly 7 week old pups I see that they will wee on waking from a sleep, after eating, anytime they feel like it really. If I had one inside I would be encouraging hourly toilets with praise as well as waking from sleep and after each meal. I really don't know if they are trainable at this age yet but that is what I would be doing.

    Hi Gizmo.

Can you help us to help better by telling us when she is in the crate, as in day and/or night, for how long etc?

She is just a wee baby, very young, and her bladder is soooooo tiny. She is crying once she has urinated as she doesn't want to have to sit or lie in her own urine.

Please give us more details of how long she is in the crate etc...

Dede rang me a few days ago. A friend of her daughter's had a 5 week old Maltese pup. Not only that she found that this family had THREE of them from the same litter. It DOES happen and I personally hate how some here judge so fast with people's posts.

I KNOW it happens, Di, is why I don't believe this poster is a troll in any way. It happens more often than many ppl think IMO for one reason or another.

I just can't help further until Op comes back and ansers questions about time in crate etc, then we will get more of an idea on how to train this little Maltese.
