Thread: Reactive dog training

    Default Reactive dog training

    Hi,

I have a 2 year old labrador, Ollie. He is reactive towards other dogs especially on leash. I have been trialling "leave it" + treat when other dogs come with some success however you can't always predict when a dog appears and if they are too close, then his threshold is too high and I can't manage his behaviour. I am new to northern suburbs melbourne and wondering if people have had experience with a good trainer or reactive dog class and can provide me with contact details.

Any information would be greatly appreciate.

    Thanks
    Kate.

    Hi Kate,

I also deal with reactive dogs and live in the Northern suburbs of Melbourne. Perhaps you live near me?

Toy dogs dont work. Dogs are not stupid. I get clients who have 'failed' with a stuffed dog and we finally sort the problem with a real dog. I have found some dogs fail too because they want to grab the toy and play with it, not because it's something they see as a real dog to produce the same behavior.
