    Default night time barking

    hey all,

    so i have a dillema.....here goes....

jonah sleeps inside, i put him in his crate and shut the door of it, i dont trust him sleeping inside anywhere else cos he has a tendancy to rip couches......... long story, but i'll go on.

my brother is a chef and comes home from work anywhere between 10pm and 2am, as soon as j hears the door open he barks like mad, my bro goes up stairs and j is still a barking nutter........ to the point where i can hear him breathing and panting from upstairs, almost like he works himself into a hysterical state and cant get out of it.......... its been going on for a while now, but last night i caved and went downstaoirs, let him out of the crate, he ran around the lounge for a bit then as i lay on the couch at about 2am....he drifted off to sleep.

then i woke him up, put him back in the crate and he was fine for the rest of the night....

my question is, whats the best way to go about stopping this behaviour, it shits me, im sure the neighbours dont appreciate it.......

is a bark collar an option?

    cheers.

btw........... hows the mardi gras dress shopping going sean?

assuming jonah doesn't bark during the night if no-one enters the home?
how is jonah with your bro?
just wondering if your bro could let him out as soon as he gets home, let him have a little recreation, then re-crate him before he goes to bed?

yeah they are fine together, its jsut the fact he gets woken up i think, and that seeing as he is refreshed after a snooze he wants to play......

the first thing on my bro's mind when he gets home at that hour is sleep....... ill talk to him and see if it makes a diff....

I too would be including your brother in the solution. As your bro might have a shower, brush teeth, change out of clothes, to you think that letting J out (which is also reinforcing the barking though) Let J be with him during this time and Bro puts him back in?

'reyzor' - any reason why you can't have Jonah in your room in his crate ?

He's your little brother , isnt he ??

As the big bro it's your right to threaten a beat down on him if he dosnt let Johna out for a quick pat at the very least. I thought you'd still be up at that time of night flicking between SBS and the world movies channel looking for foriegn 'R' rated movies that show a nipple or two anyway.

The dress shopping's not going well dude. My beer belly means i dont fit the wifes clothes anymore. Looks like i'll have to borrow another one of your dresses buddy.

sean, even though he is my lil bro, we have a mutal respect where we both think the other person would win the fight if it ever came down to it....... we've never been game enbough to try since we hit 16.....

dont worry mate, go for a run and you should be fine.........you'll be rocking those fishnets in no time
