Is there anyone who can volunteer transport to someone further away? What are the distances between Toowoomba and Brisbane? I'm hoping to ask someone in Brisbane, but they can't travel.

PS Does the council allow you to take the dog to mind for a friend for 2 weeks? STRICTLY TEMPORARY? Can you ring a ranger? Can someone check for absolute CERTAINCY, if it is really only 3 days. I don't want to take the assurances of someone that it is more. I've had that blow up in my face, and made me weep for a week.

    I'm now asking chook mates!!!!

    Hi,
I just googled the distance.. and it says 60 miles or 100kms.. To phone the animal management shelter, you call 131 872 and the no at Toowoomba RSPCA is 07 4634 1304.
If I lived in Brissie, I would do it.. I'm in Sydney.
Does anyone know anyone in Toowoomba who could go to the pound?

Did you see how much they charge for dogs? Also, can we put a deposit on her, to have her on hold, til we can organise something?? If we could get her to Sydney, could you take her? Does the fee include desexing, etc?

Ummmm Why not ring your council and find out and you may be able to get someone to bring the dog to you? Gives you time then to find a home.

Di-dee, I think I wrote at the start of this, can't check now, that I don't have a phone of any kind. It's not my council. I'm on the other side of the country. I also genuinely don't have a sou. I have just spent my last money on trying to get my car half fixed, and to drive, is to risk losing it, AND my hot water has packed it in, so I'm in 3rd world conditions, at present. I'm not whingeing, I'm not happy about telling a pile of strangers, but I did, so you know, that I'm not just passing on my guilt trip, to save myself effort and money. I know someone, not well, who has chooks and lives near Brisbane. She can't travel and doesn't want a dog. I'm so desperate, I'm wondering if I can ask her, to help, if I can pay her for food, but I don't want to ask her, if I can't get the dog to her AND get it off her hands, fairly quickly.

cavqld, what idea of Hyacinth's is good??

Are there any Golden cross poodle breeders in or near Toowoomba...that is how we rescue faraway newfies, we just contact breeders to help and they do......... We just got help for re-homing a newfie in WA by contacting two newfie breeders ( from finding them on google) we did not even know. They pulled the dog out of the pound and put him on a plane for us.......

They may not have any links or organisation to each other. It's pretty well a BYB set up for all these oodles, isn't it? Apart from perhaps the labradoodles.

Default Queensland labradoodle breeders (they would breed groodles too)

    I have googled some possibilities..

(edit - we can all google and it's not ok to do free advertising for these breeders - H)

Its worth a try for oodle fan to ring these groodle breeders and see if they can get the dog, some may be dodgy but i think you will find many of them feel an obligation to look out for them, it sure is worth a try, and if you call the pound and ask how long they will keep the dog at least you will have a timeframe to work by.
