I know this is an old thread, but I thought this might be helpful for someone in the future. $100 for a flight is WAY TOO CHEAP. Granted a pup would be cheaper than a 50kg adult dog, but not by that much!

I just moved to Adelaide from the east coast of the U.S. It's costing me $8,000 US for my Rottie x come with me (not including the extra vaccines and blood work required from the vet prior to her flight). The $8k includes flight, vet checks, care during layovers, a roomy crate, the paperwork, and the required 1 month of quarantine in Melbourne (with her doing the other 5 months of quarantine with my mum in the U.S.). I think there are other quarantine centers, but that's the one closest to us.

Just an FYI in case anyone is considering bringing a dog over from the states.

It would be a morally dubious thing to do, in any case. There are so many of these little dogs that need homes, here in Oz. That same extra thousands could be used as a trust for her future vet costs, or to sponsor the care and desexing of other sad dogs... Unless the dog is your beloved companion... To buy a PET, never met, from overseas... and clearly the original ad was a scam... You'd hardly get change from that, these days, for a check up at the local vet. Hardly pay for the taxi ride to the airport.

Most definitely a scam. Folks have fallen for it before. To import into Australia masses of paperwork is involved, as well as liaison with Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service.

The info on importation from Hawaii is here: Category 2: Minimum 30 days in Australian quarantine - Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry

If you haven't followed all of these steps, all the vet tests, forms etc etc, and booked and payed for the 30 day quarantine/kennelling period there is no way you are getting a puppy in.

Sorry. People are horrible. They prey on hopeful people looking for a special pup.

There are some lovely Yorkies about in Australia. Have you tried finding one here?

Oh, edit to add - we recently sent a pup to live with friends in Hawaii - there is no quarantine for dogs to go into Hawaii from Aust. But it cost nearly $3000 just for the transport.
