Can I ask a silly question? Why so many Shar Peis needing rescue? Surely these are not a cheap impulse buy sort of dog, how do they wind up with you?

They absolutely can be an impluse buy!! Cute wrinkly and cuddly.....then they get to about 7 months and if they have had no training and kept in the back yard they are shockers!! Also, 3 out of 5 that come through us need entropion surgery which is about $1200 per dog.

    Quite simply, disposable pets

Gawd people are dreadful aren't they? We have a customer who brings her Pei into the pharmacy, she's a rescue and so shy but we give her treats (GSDs as of late!) and she's slowly coming out of her shell.

What is entropion surgery? Is it a result of shonky breeding?

Entropion surgery is where the eye lids turn in and consequently the eye lashes rub on the eye balls and can send them blind.

    Yes, it can be genetic

I think my friend's KCC had something similar. Cost her a bomb.

One look at that face and you can see why people would impulse buy....just as well he's not in Sydney, I'd want to go meet him........and leave with him!
