I have just been informed that this proposed bill has been rejected for the moment. It will raise it's head again but in the meantime community support must be sort and there will be a showdown. More details when they are at hand.

Clea, I am so with you. Why do they want to stop rescue groups and continue to allow pet shops to support BYB????? Makes no sense to me at all

good to hear it is not going ahead!

Can I ask how you heard about this legislation? Would they have put that sort of thing in the paper?

Don't be too happy Cat, I guarantee it will be back and soon in an amended form. however, we have some time to ensure we have mass protest to have this rejected. I am still scared of the future, I assure you.

Rescue is as rescue is, I was forwarded an email. In turn I forwarded emails, and contacted the media and posted on forums......I run an open book here. What I know, everyone knows. What I do, everyone can see. I believe in complete transparency, for obvious reasons

When the time comes, I won't be simply sharing, I will be pleading for feet on the ground for a mass support rally. It will happen and we will need numbers to ensure we are heard. Rescue groups must remain to pick up the pieces of the animals in the pound, the alternative for these furkids is simply not acceptable.

Ugh now I feel ill again...they can't want to do something like that and not publicise it. If it was just through word of mouth then you could have easily woken up one morning and it have already been in place with no time for anyone to have protested against it? Seems very wrong on all sorts of levels.

There is a wonderful woman who has been involved with saving lives for many years. She is on top of this and will let me know when and how to fight the fight. In turn I will let everyone I know. We must keep on top of this but we do have a chance of squashing this if we are vigilant.

Where is the incentive for the big shelters in all of this? I thought they were non-profit organisations...obviously am more naive than I think!

Both my dogs were in care for months before I found them

And who the hell are they to say which animals can and cannot be fostered???
