    Hi Guys,

Just wanted to explain the "names on dogs" biz at Hawkesbury.

It is not at all uncommon for a dog with multiple names to have all those names drop off.

I have seen puppies (which are in high demand) with 9 names, all of them dropping off.

This does not indicate that there is an issue with the dog at all, rather people have changed their mind for any of 100 reasons.

Many people visit Hawkesbury to adopt a dog. They will often see more than one dog they would like and put their name on all of those dogs despite only wanting to adopt one.

Sometimes they really love a dog though are not able to take them on the spot (which is a good thing) and they find another in the meantime.

If there are any temp issues or problems (these are always identified) with a dog the staff will fully disclose them. If there are major issues (aggression, marked dog aggression etc) the dog will not be rehomed. In some cases they may be placed with experienced breed specific rescue.

Dogs with medical issues (as with Floss in whelp) the dog will only be released to reputable rescue to ensure the welfare of the animal & that their needs are met responsibly. There are people who will take advantage of a dog in Floss' position sadly....

I understand it can be quite confusing...dont know if I have done a good job explaining it

Wishing you all the very best in your search Ashaari, I have no doubt you will have your perfect companion in no time!

    Nic

Thank you Billy, you have been a HUGE help to me.
I am so very glad that Floss will be looked after
It is sad that some people would take her for the wrong reasons, they must have no idea how much love, money and effort goes into raising a litter of pups. No matter what people think it is in no way profortable! Ah well she is safe now

Yes I agree 100% Ashaari, sadly there are people out there who simply see the dollar signs. The welfare of Mum & bubs are not a priority for BYB's.

Thank you so much for your offers of support for Floss, they have been very generous & greatly appreciated.

Floss is doing very well and is a delight with all of us here.

I hope all goes well with the BC girl in Albury & am happy you have some support.

Sorry, missed this You are very welcome DA

I can understand how tricky it can be as pounds and shelters work very differently.

There is no uniform system & each pound is very individual in it's approach.

I can understand that this is not easy to navigate at times.

It is great to disperse some of the myths ...well at least for Hawkesbury!

Personally, I LOVE dealing with Hawksbury. (well, love it as much as anyone can given it is a dog pound - you know what I mean) The staff there make it easy as they can for me to get their pei, unlike other pounds which seem to make it as difficult as they can. I also love it that their dogs are vaccinated upon entering their care and the temp testing done is always well reported good and the bad! Keep up the GREAT work Hawksbury!!!
