    Is that price for real?

ETA- I bloody hope not.. I think the life of a dog is worth more than a couple of packets of smokes.

The prices are strange, from $36 to over $200 some beautiful dogs in there, but also I thought a couple of them didnt exactly look a picture of health.

What are people's experience with Hawkesbury Animal Shelter? Are these dogs temperament tested?

As for the price...I think maybe it is just to recoup their costs eg antibiotics etc, if the dog is proven to have been desexed, microchipped and vaccinated.

The price has nothing to do with what the dog is "worth". It is dependant on wether dog is chipped and/or lifetime registered.

I don't think people should be expected to pay huge amounts of money to rescue a dog from deaths row. I am yet to have a rescue that hasn't needed hundreds of dollars worth of vet care before rehoming. Add that to the cost of dog, rego etc, I could have nearly brought a papered one for the same amount.

Exactly...I didn't believe it was a "worth" basis here either
