I hadn't really thought of this Occy, but you are right, we will need a retirement pad. Will take this into account when I have the plans drawn up, any and all advise will be greatly appreciated here. Thanks.

IMO you needed heated kennels for the oldies - the best type would be the one you lay into the concrete? A granny flat would also do I reckon - just set up with dog beds - then again I am assuming you won the lotto lol

Oldies need more warmth and quiet than the youngsters. They also need continuity - esp when they go deaf and blind - as you would know with Noah initially.

They need special bedding cause oldies will mess the bed ocassionally

Mostly they need cuddles - too bad you cant put up a granny flat and offer it rent free for a retired couple to look after the oldies lol

Anyway - Im way too excited here lol - congrats again.

Id like to sponsor a kennel once you have them up!!

As you can imagine, it is all about the pooches, so all the kennels will be heated and cooled (will be installing solar panels to keep the ongoing costs down somewhat). From there all dogs will have access to luxuries, piped music, heated beds (somehow) etc, etc - all ideas most welcome. If ADSL 2 is available in the area and we need to investigate this, each kennel will also have web cam which will allow anyone to jump on line at any time to see what any of the beasties are up to. Handy having my very own technical genius in OH

The underfloor heating is ace and it is "accident" proof seeing as its put into the concrete lol.

I dont get piped music - I have seen it in kennels but I dont get it - I think they prefer the sounds of nature

who knows what tyabb has to internet - probably two tins and a string!

How is this going to make money for you? Did I read right before and there will be a B&B?

Two tins and string works here, lol. Seriously though I can only have dialup or satellite. Lines can not support broadband adsl and wireless does not work unless you have a good mobile phone coverage or sometimes an antenna on the roof will work.
IPSTAR..ACTIV8 is a govt funded satellite service, all you pay is the usage plan.

We are extremely fortunate (and old lol) and this move will eliminate a mortgage for us, so that pressure will be off. I have my jewellery company and nothing will change there. OH writes and sells software and we will be boarding cats in peak period (over school holidays) The B&B will also help, but that is really something that I have always wanted to do, so that is more for our enjoyment and like minded company (being dog friendly/***friendly/farmstay). Those paying guests staying with us will also have the option of not seeing us at all also - for private stays. I suspect we will have plenty of overnight stays from all of our wonderful friends (who won't have the privacy option lol) in the off school holiday seasons to look forward to as well. Also will probably aggist a horse or two. I am intending to rescue a pig, chooks, and a couple of lama's and a peacock or two to add to the mix, so wool from the lama's I guess. The house has a wonderful herb garden facility and we will establish a vege patch. We are fairly simple people at this point in our lives, so what we do make will cover our costs and leave some for the rescues. OH has almost finished writing a new web site for SPR as well, which will have an on line store for all things doggy, so covering financials from all bases. Again, this is a total lifestyle change, one that we both worked our touches off for the last 25 yrs of our working lives. We are now at that point where we can enjoy the fruits of all that hard yakka. The trade off has been our youth! However, hope to regain some of this by swimming everyday all year round and working the land!!! OMG had someone said 10 years ago when I was working 60 hrs a week in high heels, little suits and travelling the world that we would be living this lifestyl on a FARM in 10 yrs time I would have thought them totally insane. Amazing how things change!
