Excellent news that is "alls well that ends well".

SPR QLD is actually flying the boy down to Brissie from Hervey Bay. So a BIG thank you to her for her financial and logistical efforts.

If anyone has any ideas on fundraising or how to get free or cheap flights out of the airlines, please pass on your wisdom, it just gets so expensive. I have flown 7 fur kids around this month and when you put that with vet fees (of these 7, 7 desexings, 3 x entropions & 1 x cherry eye), well it does get somewhat XXXy

Perhaps the rescue fairy will smile kindly upon all those involved in rescue

I assure you that everyone who "buys" a dog from us is made to jump through hoops! Of over 40 dogs I have personally rehomed this year I have had one return and I blame my husband for that one and consequesntly I will never trust his judgement again when it comes to rehoming.

And I say "buys" because you make it sound like we are making money!!! ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!! This boy in question will cost SPR Qld $200 in air fares before he even arrives into care. Then there will be another $200 odd for desex, micro chip, worm, vaccinate, heart worm & flea. Then long term care, vet quality food, bed, collar, lead. training etc as he is nursed back into condition to allow us to rehome him. If he needs an entropion (and 1 in 3 that come through rescue do) there goes another $500 odd, meds for his allergies etc, etc. He will then be rehomed for between $400 & $500. I can assure you after spending this much money on each of the rescues, the LAST thing we are likely to do is to place him or any of them in an inappropriate home. Please, feel free to walk a mile in our shoes before you judge us!!!!

Just a quick update on the Hervey Bay boy......SPR QLD has had him in care for over a week now. He is suffering from Sarcoptic Mange:

What it is and How Severe Can it Get

Sarcoptic mites cause sarcoptic mange. These mites are one of the most contagious types of parasites and are not visible to the human eye. As such, only a high power microscope can detect them. These mites affect not just dogs but other four-legged animals as well.

Sarcoptic Mange In Dogs Sarcoptic mites burrow themselves into the outer layers of the dog's skin. A single sarcoptic mite can live for as long as 22 days.
Its entire lifespan is spent on the host, which in this case, is your pet. They reproduce massively and can cover the surface of your dog's skin if left untreated. A single sarcoptic mite can proliferate to a number that is enough to cause severe skin lesions on your dog.
Sarcoptic mites are one of the most destructive parasites because they can spread throughout the entire body, causing life-threatening skin diseases.
Due to the constant scratching, dogs with sarcoptic mange will eventually develop dry, scaly, and crusty skin. This is the most common symptom of sarcoptic dog mange. Soon enough, hair loss on the affected part will occur, exposing the wounded part of the skin.

Sarcoptic mange usually develops on the ears, head, face, abdomen, and limbs of the dog. Take note that sarcoptic mites are very contagious, even to humans. They can also live outside the host for a certain period of time. Therefore, it is possible to catch this disease even if there's no direct contact with an affected animal at all.
It is a good thing that these mites can't thrive on human skin. They can live on your skin for some time, but will eventually die because they can't reproduce there, and there's not enough nourishment for them.

So as you can appreciate.....this boy and SPR QLD have a long road ahead of them.
