EDIT TO SAY: I am sorry if that sounds insensitive
LOL, I know what you mean Netty, it does seem that way, but the fact is Qld have similar #'s to what we do and SA currently have 5 or 6 also. NSW has less atm because Steph was due to have a baby yesterday, so any that have come up in NSW for the last month or so have been shipped interstate. However, my understanding is that Steph is expecting 2 x 8 week olds to arrive at her house over the weekend!! She will be busy with a new baby as well.

The Perth dogs have been booked to come here since November and the other 4 newbies have been local surrenders this week.

Frankly I am amazed by our numbers atm, I would never have expected things to be this bad in my wildest dreams.

I haven't taken an interstate dog since Gomez & Lockie in early December, but then other than Moby and Lockie I haven't rehomed any in that time either. So since Gomez and Lockie, and until the baby this evening the only newbie we have had in has been Rosie and given she was in Mildura, we were the closest port of call for her.

I have actually asked NOT to be alerted of interstate dogs since the beginning of the year as we are obviously overflowing. But then so are the other states!

Apparently Pei are not at all popular in WA, so although we tried to rehome Koda over there for the past 6 weeks or so, we didn't get one application on him.

Also, we have had some long termers here for various reasons. Gomez, Lockie given his bad leg (he is a VERY lucky boy that he has a forever home so quickly....he has an exceptional nature and his new family just want him to be settled and to give him the love and medical attention he deserves - its a really nice story)! Then Elwood & Cooper, both of who needed extra time to become rehomable. I have no idea why we still have Jake as he is another lovely puppy. And then there is Diesel and his eye issue which seems to get worse on a daily basis. (He has a specialists appointment on Thursday this week coming).

Hope that answers your question to a point, but in short....too many dogs not enough suitable adoptive parents atm

Thanks SPRV... I think it makes sense...

Today I walked past a pet shop that had 2 wee shar pei pups in one of the glass cages at the bargain price of $850 each! Of course everyone was looking at them saying "Ooh look Roly dogs!". I had steam coming out of my ears and the bf dragged me away before I started making a scene.

Poor wee tykes - coming to rescue near you soon!

    ARGH this makes me so

How would those people like to be locked in cages with people banging, tapping, cooing, aghing at the glass. Poor Buggers.

Had to add.....went to Eliz Shopping Centre today (always feel compelled to look at pets paradise...although it upsets me) they had King Charles Cavaliers X Maltese and were calling them Malteliers like it is actually a breed! ARGH!

They had 2 kittens in a wire cage at the front of the shop with DO NOT TOUCH - WE DONT WANT TO GET SICK written on about 6 signs (on the 1 cage). Yep wonder why they would get sick...let me guess.....NOT VACCINATED!

    some people make me sick

Sorry I was really caught up all day. Tire blew out on way back from the northern. Anyway, my suggestions were Baby, Posh and Spice. I've always thought if you had a litter it would be cool to name them Posh, Baby, Scary, and whatever the other one was..But we don't want to call a precious little Shar Pei Scary
