    Default Whippet rescue

Last time I spotted a whippet in the ACT pound, MAC got him out the next day. There's another one there, dumped on Xmas day. Sigh. But MAC's account is closed and I don't know how to contact her.

Does anyone know which whippet rescue org she was involved in?

Bump. Anyone? The poor thing is still there. I contacted the NSW whippet rescue. But the woman I emailed was on holidays and didn't do anything to get him out of there. It's sad for any dog to be at the pound but even more so for what looks like a purebred whippet. They are so fragile in some ways.

I dunno - she's disappeared off another forum I hang out at. I might try an open post - there. Do you have a link for ACT pound?

    This one ?

One can only hope its owners come looking for it.

I thought that once they list them on the site they've done their 7 days of waiting for owner already. Mac said they have her details and are supposed to call her if they get a whippet in. Bit they didn't last time. Maybe is should ask them if they can call her. Or maybe they did and she's in holidays too.

I've got to have my house packed up by Monday so I'm a bit short on time myself.

I don't know - if I was an owner - I'd like to see what they have in - ie listing it would be helpful for me. Save ringing up all the time.

Tho hopefully they'd ring my mobile, ie details from the microchip.

Beloz - all in hand. Whippet will be safe. Thanks for the heads up. Please do the same if you see any whippies in pounds etc - your post was spotted quickly.

Oh thank goodness. I felt guilty for not getting him out myself - the Vic whippet rescue did offer to list him - but am in the middle of a move.

Hope he finds a lovely new home.

Hya, maybe they do list before the wait is up. I hope so. That would mean the poor thing was abandoned on Xmas day.

I got a message back from MAC, she says the Whippet Club of NSW will take care of whippets like these if needed, but the dog is known to the pound, and known to be an escape artist in storms, and the owners were away on holidays, so they were waiting for the owners to come back to see if they still wanted him and if they didn't - someone had put their name down for him.

So I'm guessing from that - they list the dogs as they come in - so if you know yours is missing - you can look there first to see if your dog might be there (though a visit is the only way to be sure).

As best I can tell, MAC is off the forums for the moment - having been contacted by one too many nutjobs about instant whippet puppies.

Grrr. So they left their dog home alone while they went on holidays and whoever was feeding him didn't bother to look for him when he disappeared? Charming.
