    Default Flea Treatment

What flea treatment product do you guys recommend? I have used Exelpet but its crap, but have just started on Advocate.
What product works best for you (er, your dog)? If you guys could also explain what the product kills and prevents as well, that would be great

I use either Frontline Plus or Advantix.

We use it for ticks but it also does fleas. Never had any fleas ever, the ticks can still get past it but at least die after a day or two if we do happen to miss one.

I use Fido's flea shampoo once a week before DT, and Capstar. I havent noticed fleas on her ever since I started bathing her regularly with the flea shampoo.

frontline is what works for us, I saw a remedy in a magazine yesterday actually. It said to cut up a lemon and put it in a jug of boiling water, stand overnight and use next day.

Would be interesting to know if this works.

I use Frontline on my dogs, never had any probs with its performance & never seen a tick or flea on any of dogs, thank goodness

My dogs get yearly heart worm injections at Vet.

We are using advantage at the moment. Its ok, still have the odd flea but we use the capstar tablets when we spot fleas.

I've swapped from Frontline plus to Revolution (6 month supply including intestinal wormer tablets). I might swap back again at the end of the year, just to keep the fleas from building resistance.

Revolution seems very expensive up front until you work out what it covers and what you'd have to pay to get that from some other combination of flea spot ons and worming tablets including heart worm.

I use Frontline Plus as well as using flea control shampoo when I bath my dogs.

Frontline Plus works quite well actually. It controls Fleas and Ticks. Never have seen a single tick or flea on either Max, Pipi or Teddy.

Surprisingly, Max is 7 years old and has never had fleas or ticks.

I try to vary what I use - between Revolution, Advantage, Sentinel etc. I find Frontline to be the least effective, so try not to use that.

Haven't had a flea problem in years!
