Default Bad Home Pet Sitting Business' Perth

    Hi all
I am new to this site. But have wanted to find somewhere to view my opinion with regards to a very bad home dog sit I had over the last xmas period, so no one else falls victim like I did.

Please if you are looking to pay an agency to find a sitter to stay at your home and look after your loving four legged best mates
DO NOT USE - WEST COAST P ET ST AYZ.

I returned home after 2 weeks to find my yard and garden almost dead, a very neurotic and traumatised dog and valuable personal items stolen. I reported the theft to the police but as it was my word against theirs nothing I could do and sadly I was not fully insured.

The owner of the business was more than happy just to palm it off to someone else to deal with and that was that.

And this was all made more disappointing as it was the first time I had used an agency to care for my gorgeous dog, so unlikely I will ever feel comfortable doing that again.

So AVOID USING "WE ST COAST P ET STA YZ", as not all of their sitters are reliable, trustworthy and honest!

If anyone else has had problems with this business I would be very interested to hear.

    Hi Hyacinth
As I am new to this, are their certain filters I need to set up or be careful with when posting?
Have just had a quick look at Yelp, so am presuming that is another site that I can share my opinion re the above.
    Thanks for you help

I think it is also a reminder not to leave valuable personal items in the care of a complete stranger. I have never been keen on the idea of leaving my dogs or house in the care of someone that I either dont know, or does not have personal references from good friends. I just know how careless people can be with dogs and things that are not their own. This experience reinforces this for me.

I used to leave my dogs with a good kennel who I know well and park my valuables with my family. It is more difficult to leave in summer if you have a garden that needs care, but I certainly wouldnt leave either my dogs or my personal items with a house sitter I didnt know.

You need to be very careful of defamation. While what you say may well be true, if the business in question employs less than 10 people and finds your posts and sues you for defamation, you need to be able to prove what you've said is true. And since the police said it came down to your word against theirs, I'd be very worried about losing such a case(not to mention that ending up in court defending a defamation case will likely see you 10's if not 100's of thousands out of pocket in legal expenses plus any damages awarded against you. Sometimes it better just to put it down to experience and not vent about it online

We're going to Melbourne tomorrow, my mother in law is staying at our house to look after the animals and I'm still locking every room in the house apart from the spare bedroom and bathroom

Previously we have had family look after the house and pets. I wouldn't feel comfortable with strangers in my home even though many people use these services and are very satisfied.

My daughter now has a 3 kilo dog and my sons are FIFO workers so when we went overseas in June Brian stayed at Camelot Pet Resort which I had visited beforehand and burnt the ears of the owners with my phone calls.

They are just the most wonderful calm and patient people, the place is very clean and comfortable and every dog is treated as their own. Brian loved it.

Doglover, Not sure where you are in WA but if you are south of the river I'd thoroughly recommend them. You do need to book well ahead though as they are very popular.

That is really such a sh*t deal. I mean, I can see logically why it's in place - to avoid jerks just b*tching about a company they didn't like for no reason - but it's a bit of a hard knock for those who genuinely had a bad time and need to warn others. Otherwise, even if it is true, there's no way to prove it from what it sounds like, but it DID happen, so others should be warned so the company doesn't get business. Not fair though though, that is life haha.

    Striker and Doglover13

We've had various people come here because they've googled their business name, and found this site and not been very happy with the comments posted about them. And then just to make really sure that we can find the adverse comments quite convincing, these business people then make all sorts of angry threats and demands.

While some big forums allow people to post reviews of products, eg trip advisor and whirlpool and yelp and lots of other dedicated product review sites... it's usually easier for a smaller site or forum to be shut down than to defend themselves in court for the opinion of one or more members or a troll... doesn't seem fair but so far, that's how it is.

All I do is put some extra spaces or letters in so that the name doesn't come up in google searches. Which means the forum regulars will see your review but people doing google searchs won't find it. Theoretically the person who wants to sue - could equally sue google or their own isp as much as this forum but the lawyer fees are worth avoiding.
