    Default Painting of Your Dog

    Hi Everyone,

Just in case you haven’t heard of our company its Paint U. What we do is turn photos into a real original oil paintings. As you can see on our site we have done a fair few dogs all ready and I personally love each and everyone. I see you guys were talking about running a photography completion maybe we could work something out where the winning photo could receive their own painting of that photo? Just a suggestion.

    Hi
Who are some of these 'best prtrait artists in the country'? Just curious...

I'm not sure I'd want a photo-realistic painting of a photo (you know what I mean), but I did like some of Paint U's more abstract work in their "Art for Sale" section.

Sorry...reminds me of Harvey Normans Printing station. Print your photo onto canvas sort of thing....
Still curious to hear who these 'best portrait artists in the country' are...

How odd.. why would anyone want a painting of a photo? If you have the photo why not just enlarge it?

I rather paintings to be not so ummm "real"

    My thoughts exactly Puggerup!

I've been an artist for years and I know a fake when I see it. Just makes me so angry as we have sooo many talented artists, (especially young artists) in this country that either struggle to make a living with the $ they earn, really work their butts ,or are forced to move overseas...

Even though I'm a semi-abstract artist I don't see anything wrong with realistic/semi realistic pet portraits but I refuse to do ones where every bit of hair is painted on every little thing in the background etc, in that case you might as well enlarge the photo.

Yeah I agree, it's good for the artist to not just duplicate, but add a little of themselves into the picture ... Otherwise it's really just a analogue copy of my digital copy.

What would be good is a portrait that takes several individual pictures and the artist places the dogs from each picture together in one painting.

This would make a nice portrait though, if you could bring out the colours of the bush in the background.

That sounds like a good suggestion, and I wouldn't knock back a painting of my dog if I won one! Maybe you should email the admin (Marty?) if you haven't already.
