I put a link in the top post for signs and symptoms of Gastric Dilation Voluvus (bloat + stomach twist)

A friend's dog died of this suddenly even tho they made it to the vet...

Had an active beach walk and then this. ARGH. The dog was a Labrador - around 8 years old - just starting to get a bit wobbly in the back end but had always been fit and skinny (for a lab). I don't know if it was straight after a large meal or not. But it would have been roughly the same routine as always.

Bloat scares the crap out of me! This chart is great, I'll be saving it for sure!

Considering I'm getting a Standard Poodle soon, I've tossed up the idea of getting the surgery done where they stitch the stomach in place so it can't move... Not sure if it's worth it or not. Will be asking my breeder for their thoughts.

added bloat video to the top.

thanks to Bernie for the link. It's uncomfortable but educational and important to watch.
This is an akita with bloat - who is saved because owners realise their brand new pet is not right and rush him to the vet.
