I know it totally sucks! we haven't been so poor since we moved to Oz - both me and OH were beef workers so we were on awesome money, it just meant we would have to live in the middle of nowhere to continue on that money so we decided to head over here. When were so broke like this it also makes us regret our move

I have thought about pet insurance but the trouble is still having to come up with the money upfront. I don't care about spending hundreds of dollars and not getting reimbursed, i care about coming up with the money upfront which is the reason i would consider pet insurance in the first place! if somebody has any ideas on insurance that pay's the upfront costs i would jump at the chance.

We picked up our boy 4pm this afternoon and he seems to be doing okay, his temperament seems the same and he is eating and drinking normally, they opened up the wounds to flush them. The lumps have gone right down - phew. He has to go back monday and get his stitches removed and then a test for feline hiv in a few weeks. If he got stunned by a stray he has 1 in 4 chances of contracting it. I'm praying that he won't have it...

Aww poor little guy he doesn't look impressed at all!

Money sucks, we've had a tough time since before Xmas with things popping up every month that need to be paid for. The OH started a new job at the beginning of the month though so he is on better money now and gets paid weekly instead of fortnightly. I've got a week and a half until I start my new job so I am hoping to go from monthly to weekly pay too! It would make life easier. Lol

My car is just about to die though, so we're going to see the bank next week and hopefully they will give us some money do I can get a new one!

Surprisingly for somebody who has gaping holes in his forehead he's handling it quite well, acting very normal, even the vet commented on it. He's a very happy go lucky guy, just not very photogenic lol. He's loves his food and i was happy to see that the injury hasn't affected his appetite so i asked if i could knock a hundy off by asking for no fluids (i weighed up the option of him becoming dehydrated very slim) but i told them to contact me if he was at risk of being dehydrated and we would put him on fluids. I'm kicking myself by not being up to date with the vacc's and the other two are getting done in two weeks, Molly is due for hers at the end of the month and then i will get his (ponamu's) done a week later...

So with all those and my trip home in a couple of weeks we will be scratching!!

It sucks knowing that sometimes you can't give them the very best of everything. I hate knowing that sometimes they just have wait until funds roll in to get the help that they need. We've always been able to fork out payments for vet bills etc - no matter what the cost and it's embarrassing to roll into a vet clinic and ask if they can "cap" a price. I'm seriously starting to second guess going into the police force as we may still be struggling, it's not like they make awesome money... still gotta finish TAFE first... sigh

yea weve always been able to handle any bills the come up for whatever. I mean, it was only 3 years ago that I spent $3k to ship the dogs over and now Id be bloody lucky if I scraped $300 together LOL.

Itll all work out though....soon as the OH has a job, we will be sitting pretty!

    Fingers crossed.

Sometimes when you have a dream of something you want to do you have to make sacrifices though. Just keep in mind your end goal when ever times get tough! It will pay off in the end, if not financially - at least you will enjoy your job!

its great that Bella's tail is on the mend!

We think one of my rescue cats, Bubbles, was hit by a car at some point and had nerve dammage, because she cannot move her tail at all... it just flops everywhere and she feels no pain in it at all... we tested to see if she could feel pain in it by squeezing it to the point that most cats would be killing me... and she had no reaction what so ever!
i wouldnt like to have a dog with this problem.... i love being greeted by a wagging tail when i get home
