Sounds like floppy tail syndrome. This can often be caused by over-exertion or cold baths.

Its indicated by the top few inches being perfectly fine but the rest of the til droops.

Personally, if its not painful to touch, I wouldnt bother with a vet visit until youve given it a couple of days.

Barney had this about 6 months ago, he had a cold bath and then a massive run on the bike and then his tail went floppy except for the first 2 or 3 inches. I panicked at first but after googling, I decided to give it a couple of days and within 48 hours it was completely back to normal.

Edit to add; See I even started a thread about it - which noone rpelied in http://www.dogforum.com.au/dog-healt...-syndrome.html

She wouldn't let me touch it today, I would and she would constantly move away from me. I am only worried because last night when I first noticed it she kept making noises like she was in pain, like little yelps and didn't seem to want to settle. She was panting and would sit down, but then get back up again and go somewhere else. I'll see what the vet says this arvo. Hopefully it is something that will fix itself!

Ah yea, get it checked if its a bit tender, but I reckon thats what it will be. Barney's wasn't painful..but now I think about it, he wasnt that kind on me touching the spot where it went floppy either LOL.

Must be the day for issues, Barney is having some issues today too so I am woring from home to keep an eye on him. He gets back strain sometimes and I am hoping it is just that coz we literally do not have the money for a vet visit right now (OH hasnt worked since before Xmas and we are running out of cash LOl).

Haha we don't really either :S But I would rather for my piece of mind. I was hoping last night that she would sleep it off or something!

They were some epic zoomies last night though! lol So that is probably what it is! lol

So I've just gotten home today to take Bella to the vet and we have nearly half the tail back now and she is able to wag the base a little! Lol I've cancelled the appointment and I will give it a day or so and see how it is! She seems to be back to normal otherwise!

I know what you mean, im waiting around home today for my cat to come out of surgery. He managed to escape two nights ago out of the house & got into a fight with something & has three gaping wounds on the top of his head. We had to cap his surgery @ 5hundy as we dont have a penny more to our name. Im rather embarrassed and worried of the fact his feline hiv vacc is 4 months out of date...

    Kuri you too eh.

I spoke to my mum at lunch time and her dog has just been at th evet too.

Barney is limping on his left hind leg and whining if you even lightly touch it. We are hoping it is something similar to his back strain he gets so he is "crated" (by crated, I mean I have blocked an area off with 2 clothes airers LOL) to limit movement and see how we go.

We have been on one income since we got here and we have about run out of money. I will be hard pressed to even get the money for a consult right now. Lucikly I was speaking to my sister before and she said she can help us out for a couple hundy if we need to. I am hoping the OH gets the job he is wanting because then wwe will be laughing. It almost makes me regret moving to Brisbane, in Sydney we were both on good money and any bill that popped up wasnt a problem at all. I havent felt so poor since I was studying lol.

I have already decided to get pet insurance but that has to wait til the OH starts working too.

Thank god for family though, I just hope its not something major over the amount she can help with otherwise it is going to have to wait until I get paid in 2 weeks.

Does somebody wanna call me thew waaaahmbulance LOL
