    What does advocate cover?

Tape worm is also known as hydatid.

I use canex and revolution - the revolution covers fleas and heart worm and canex covers intestinal and tapeworm.

Heart worm is not usually included with anything so you have to treat that separately.

I did for one year have the heart worm shot - two shots $160 full price ARGH, and frontline plus and drontal chews. My dog likes the drontal much better than canex.

I really can't be stuffed looking up what each covers. And you might need something for ticks as well.

yes, why is there not a good overview of 'what does what' at what cost?

Not even my VET, who is really nice, gives an overview out to the owners of his patients.

    Advocate provides:
The Fast Flea Control and Prevention. Imidacloprid spreads rapidly over your pet, killing 98-100% of adult fleas within 12 hours of application. In addition, Imidacloprid controls flea larvae in the pet’s environment and reduces the incidence of Flea Allergy Dermatitis (FAD).

Heartworm Prevention. After application, Moxidectin enters your pet’s bloodstream and with monthly use will prevent heartworm infection in dogs.

Treatment, Protection and Prevention of Gastrointestinal Worms. Advocate's unsurpassed efficacy against adult, immature and L4 larval stages of hookworms and roundworms assures protection against environmental contamination and prevents reinfestation of your pet.

Control of Ear Mites. For the treatment of ear mites, Advocate is highly effective as a single dose.

Treatment and Control of Demodex. Demodex is a skin mite that can cause a potentially debilitating skin condition in dogs. Monthly application of Advocate for 2 to 4 treatments is highly effective in the treatment of this condition.

Treatment and Prevention of Sarcoptic Mange. Advocate eliminates 100% of sarcoptic mange mites after a single dose.
I got that from the Bayer website. Pretty sure it covers everything but tapeworm and ticks.

I think Purina has just brought out an all wormer monthly chew.

Not that I support Nestles brands but the tv ad said it covered heart worm, intestinal worms and tape worm...

    Might be worth checking out.

One day I might do a big grid of what product covers what pest or disease.

Though products do change, and also some pests become immune to certain active ingredients so it helps to change occasionally.

    you are right Hyacinth

The way the pet market is going, (more) things might become more accessible and perhaps cheaper.
I will check out what Nestle offers. Gives us our bread and butter, this multinational!

    Purina on the worming tablets:

TOTAL CARE Tasty Chew Heartwormer & Allwormer for Dogs for Medium Dogs
Function: Prevents heartworms and treats intestinal worms in medium dogs.

On-pack Description: PURINA TOTAL CARE Tasty Chew Heartwormer & Allwormer protects against:

    •Heartworm
•Intestinal worms – roundworm, whipworm, hookworm and tapeworm

Controls: Roundworm, Hookworm, Tapeworm and Whipworm
    Prevents: Heartworms.
Before starting PURINA TOTAL CARE Tasty Chew Heartwormer & Allwormer, you should have your veterinarian confirm, by a simple test, that your dog does not have heartworm.

    Also Purina
Chocolate Worming Treatment - not for heart, whip & tapeworm
Tasty Wormer - does not treat heartworm

A matter of cost now for me. Had my dogs injected last year. Will check. I don't really like the continual worming....

canex is dosed once every three months. But I put the revolution anti flea and anti heartworm on every month. Just as well canex is only once every three months cos she hates it. I have to wrap it up in sardines or other smelly stuff to get her to eat it.

OP, when I lived in Sydney, I just used advocate.

It does the worms, heartworm and fleas. If you keep the fleas under control then it minimises tapeworm risk too as that is often transmitted via fleas.

And if you don't live in a big tick area then you dont need to stress too much about ticks.
