    Default Opinions on Advance

    Hi Guys,
I have a 14 month old Bull Mastiff and Just bough a Neo Mastiff x Bull Mastiff.
Diesel is a bit of a fuss pot and we had him on Advance which was turning out to be very expensive as he wouldnt eat it all and we were mixing in all kinds of things even with his wet food to get him to eat it... weve now switched to Supercoat which he always eats as there is variety in the wet food...
With the purchase of our new pup we want to put him back onto Advance as this is what pup will be getting...
We've figuired he likes chicken and roo mince so are planning to mix this through for both of them.
Any opinions on Advance.. good or bad?
Hopefully new pup isnt as fussy as Diesel haha

My breeder feeds Advance so that's what my pup grew up on... I didn't really see that much difference between that and a cheaper brand (body and skin condition, overall health etc) but I do have toy breeds...
For a large to giant breed correct food while they are growing is paramount. For Danes we used to give Eagle Pack but I believe they have changed the formula so I can't vouch for that one anymore as I haven't tried the new one.

Do Advance make a giant breed formula? Really all you need to pay attention to at the moment is the amount of protein, it should not contain more than 23-24%

I never commit myself to one food... every dog reacts differently to different foods.

Like I said my pup did well on Advance so in that case I would recommend it, but another pup might not do as well, you really just have to use your best judgement.
Bear in mind that the more expensive food only has to be given while the pup is growing, then you can switch to a cheaper brand.
At the moment one of mine is underweight so he is being given Hollistic Select, while the other 2 are being given just Supercoat. Once the younger one is back on track with his weight he will be switched to Supercoat as well.

Yep i just want the new pup on a good food for a large breed for his joints etc and once hes finished maturing will switch back to something a bit cheaper... diesel should really still be on advance as he isnt full grown until hes 2yo... Ill give it a go and see how the new puppy likes it... if we have problems it will be chopping and changing until we find something they both like haha

I was feeding my puppy advance and then we had problems with the runs, so I swapped to Nutro Natural choice. No more poo problems unless she sneaks contraband at the park or beach.

I also feed a home made casserole - so she gets around 450gm of that, and about half a cup of nutro - and treats (more nutro and kitten biscuits and other stuff) depending how much walking and training we do. The treats come out of her dinner ration ie from the half a cup.

Thats the problem with having so many dog brands out there, you never know which one is the best and if you havent heard about it before you know nothing.
Does anybody know anything about IAMS ?
