Default Travelling in the Car with a Dog

I am going on a long drive in a couple of months time there will be me and my little foxy. She is a nervous dog I have been taking her for little drives around town she is in her harness in the middle of the back seat. The vet said that there is natural relaxants that you can buy in the pet shops he wasnt sure of the name?
Does anyone know of natural relaxants and have they had success with them?
    Thank you
    Jenny

Rescue remedy is one...just some drops under the tongue
Chamomile (tea-bags) give a small amount for a few days before the trip.

The vet may agree that some sedation may be needed if the anxiety is too great.
I would be lengthening the drives.
I wouldn't be trying to placate her during the drive as she may then decide there is indeed something to fear.
If you are worrying about her then she will pick up on this as well.

I am not saying you are doing any of this though.

Do you think she is fearful of the large (to her) area that she is sitting in? Would she cope better in say a carton . the front open so she sees you, a hole for the seatbelt to go through?

I think she is nervous because she is not close enough to me? She is on the back seat and would rather be on my lap but she cant do that

Can you not have her in the front passenger seat?

On a long drive she should eventually settle down IMO

Thank you for your help I am thinking if she starts to stress to much I will put her on the front seat beside me for a while apparently its illegal because of the airbags?
