Thread: How Many Meals Do Your Dogs Get?

I have a food obsessed beagle.
He will eat anything at anytime.
He gets fed ONCE a day olnly at 6pmish. From 4pm he is begging and carrying on. When he was fed twice a day it was the same behaviour but twice a day instead of once...

He does get a bone 3 or 4 times a week in the middle of the day.
He is on the heavier side or his good wt range (but not in the overwt catagory).

I feed twice per day due to medication requirements.

There are people who feed particular 'wolfe theory' diets who often feed only every other day. This is based on the wild wolf scenario... with which I don't agree is applicable to domestic dogs of today anyway. However, many swear by the 'all natural feed them like wolves' idea and this takes on many forms. Many on here feed their dogs based on a wolves diet athough they feed daily or twice daily.

Why don't you try a Kong? Perhaps if it is ready for him, he will see it when he wakes and this will keep him occupied for a while.

Oh a kong is a great idea, thanks Anne! It sounds like each dog is very different, i might have to just monitor and see how he goes with one feed.

I've attached a picture of the cheeky devil

Awww he is soo cute I have many many kongs and i've taken to freezing meat and such in them to keep my dog occupied. I also freeze biscuits in large ice blocks so she has to do something to get her food (kind of like how they feed polar bears at zoos!).
She never barks for it as I also vary her dinner/breakie time!
