Thread: Diet Questions

    Default Diet Questions

I've noticed lately when I give Harley and lily new bones Harley seems to get constipated and his poo's are white and hard. They are on a premium dry food diet. With premium can food. Have some chicken carcases and raw mince too. Lily has no problem and when we don't give bones he is ok too (big marrow bones)
Also lily is lazier than him and chubbier lol

Harley has high energy and is on the slimmer side even when we feed more. he doesn't look like the typical rotti ( prob cos he's not overweight ) don't get me wrong Harley is by no means underweight you can feel ribs but not see them

I was wondering if anyone knows some remedies or foods to add. I read pumpkin is good but would like to hear other opinions

When Ruby has any Change is her Poo or starts to get a bit spewey I usually start feeding her a really plain diet of rice, pasta and cooked chicken and chicken necks.

It fixes her right up and then she can get back into the meety stuff

My bone feeding goes according to poop consistency.......Dry poop less bones, more meaty stuff, sardines in oil would be good. Softer poop, more bone.
I feed RAW.........Have been a poop observer for many years

Rolled oats mixed with can food/sardines/salmon/yogurt is good as well as pumpkin and carrots. If constipation is rather severe, you can also add some metamucil to wet food.
I love cooking but I love eating even more.
