Thread: Sasha Has Gone Off Dry Food :/

I have never given my dogs canned food until we got the puppy we have now. After a couple of days of the smell (both going in and coming out the other end), the canned food went in the bin. I started him on the food the other dogs have which is either mince with vegies and either pasta or rice or chicken with vegies and either pasta or rice. He also has access to biscuits during the day if he is hungry at all. He is thriving on it and I swear by making your own feeds especially from a budget point of view.

Everybody has their personal preferences and ways of doing things, but I have never known of a 7 month old dog who is still eating so many meals in the day. Even when we had Shepherds they were only having one or two meals a day, and one them would sometimes be bones.

I know this "three meals a day" thing is throwing people a bit off.. they arent what you would consider meals... they are what you would feed your dog twice a day or even ONCE broken up in smaller amounts, so please with the whole over feeding thing.. just want to know why she is not eating her dry food.

Dogs are like people, so maybe she doesn't like it any more? Have you ever had a food that you have decided you don't like that you used to like? Can you try another type of dry food?

Have you checked her teeth and gums or her mouth in general to see if there is anything that could be causing discomfort when eating biscuits?

No but i am sure she is ok, seeing as though she is eating the big bone shaped biscuits with ease as i stated before.

Change is as good as a Holiday I say Try Changing Up her Bickies! You could definitely go down to two meals a day now, the jump from breaky to dinner will make her alot more eager for food I thinks

Thats another thing i want to know, seeing as though she is having pet mince (breaky), chicken necks (lunch) and dinner, can i put her on the pet mince with vegies/pasta etc and just give her her chicken necks for breakfast?

We treat dry food as a treat around here.

Mine are primarily fed on wet, but for breakfast I make a HUGE fuss about preparing dry food and putting it out for them. I do the silly voices and the yum yum YUMs!!!!

So they have a small meal of dry for breakfast which they gobble up, I always leave them wanting more, so that next meal of dry, the next day, they will like it just as much.

Then for dinner they have dog roll mixed with a little bit of canned.
I know dry only is better for them than wet food but who wants to eat the same stale old dry stuff every meal?
