    Default Poked His Eyes!

Don't know if I posted this in the right section but....

Just now, about 20 minutes ago I accidentally poked Milo in his left eye with my thumb. I reached down to pat him and he jumped up. He yelped a little bit then wouldn't come near me for 3 minutes or so - and of course I was very saddened by this =(

I just want to know if his eye may have any infections. My hands weren't filthy with things stuck on them, but they weren't washed with soap before hand. His left eye previously had had an infection and was treated.

Another thing I want to know is, is my relationship with him now impaired and how do I go about building it up again? He was willing to let me pat him 5 minutes after, but his tail was covering his bottom.. and he was a bit cautious of where I move my hands.

Has anyone had any accidental injuries they caused on their dog?

My OH kicked a football into Harleys face the other day from less than a metro away. Accidentally of course as Harley couldn't wait for the ball to be kicked before he lunged for it. U could see it clearly stunned him and probably hurt. He ran straight to me for cuddles but next kick of the ball he was back out there.

Try giving him food or a toy he likes distract him with some training or something. Make him associate u with something fun again. I doubt he will remember this accident.
Some ppl hit their dogs but the dog still loves them.

My dog is always poking her eyes onto my fingers. Oops.

No obvious sign of infection and she doesn't seem to blame me for it.

Occasionally I have hurt her but I pretend like nothing happened and it's all good. I think it is important not to be all anxious about how the dog might feel - as this will make things worse.

Ah ok, thanks guys. I was just a bit worried he wouldn't trust me anymore. I ended up playing treating him for some basic obedience just to lighten things up.

I step on Johnny’s feet all the time – totally accidental but he always yelps and makes me feel terrible.

    Treat bribes fix everything!
