Question Pine Cones? Yes or No?

    Hey there,

Just wondering if pine cones are ok for your dog? As next door has a pine cone tree and a few have fallen into our yard and my Aussie was playing with them. I didnt if they were ok, so took them away and jumped on here.

Hope to hear from you soon...

    Kindest Regards,
    Kristin

    hi Kristin / Doghappy

I think they rate about the same as sticks in terms of risk. My dog is fine chewing on sticks and pine cones, but I like the pine cones to be very old.

Fresh pine cone has too much pine sap which is what they make turps out of. How a dog can want to chew that beats me. Can't be good.

Yes our black cockies make special trips into the city to eat pine cones. The mess is huge. And I do like pinenuts that you buy - to eat.

Awesome thank you guys. Yeah, the dogs love them and playing around with them. My ratties, also love them... although the boys just tend to pee on them to mark. hahaha
