    Default Vet Costs...

Well this week I have spent a WHOPPING $900 at the vets, Lilli our 1yr old Foxie got desexed and she was in season so that cost $240, Skittles & Peaches our 7mths female kittens were desexed so thats another $225 and the Snaffy our 5yr old staffy female went in for a check due to weight loss etc and came homefrom an overnight stay desexed with anti-biotics so another $420 later and I am broke....

What does everyone else pay to have their dogs/cats desexed??? I still have 1 female and 2 male dogs to get done...

    Hi,

For my male minis got desexed and I paid about $150.00 about 2 years ago.
My female cat got desexed through Cat Protection Society and i remember paying about $80.00 about 5 years ago including microchipping. The other animals rescued included in fees ($350.00 and $250.00)

I think fees vary and it is worth asking especially you have so many pets.

    All the best

wow that seems very cheap to me for all that desexing!
I got a quote off my vet to get Luda desexed in a couple of months time and was quoted $295.00 not in season!
I nearly died the first time we ever took Banjo to the vet.... we had just recently got him from the rspca and he had this horrible cough... we took him and the vet checked him over, gave us all these meds and the bill was almost $300! next time for some vacs and heartworm test- again nearly $300!

Yes we are in the process of finding another vet!

The only thing my vet over charges with is vaccinations.
For all the important things they are quite good on price.
We have a PFD boy in today for desexing, he is a standard poodle, but we were able to get a $50 discount from the RSPCA when they were doing a microchipping drive. He will be about $170 I think. I also have to take my Grey in for a C3 so I can send her papers off and she will be about $60 if I dont watch out lol

Breeding, Showing, Training and general crazy making!!!

Not to hijack or anything, but what is a good price for vaccinations?

    Hi Julie,

I just recently paid $79.00 for yearly check up/C5/teaching me how to express anal gland for my dog. The vet was fantastic.

    Oops I just checked..it was $69.00

Hi Hachna, could you possibly recommend the vet you visited? I moved out of home recently and visited home today only to notice that my poor old family dog seems to be in a lot of discomfort ...she seems to have developed large lumps along her body and her spine is sticking out more prominently. I'm really worried but my dad is reluctant to take her to the vet. If you could be of any assistance I would really appreciate it.

    Hi Hachna,

Thanks so much! Sorry about the late reply I'm not very familiar with this website.

I'll let my parents know about Helen, I feel much better being recommended than just approaching any random vet. And the RSPCA is a great idea too.

Thanks again, I really appreciate it.=)
