Thread: OMG!!! What Was That!!!

    Default OMG!!! What Was That!!!

Poppy was just relaxing on the couch with me, snoozing away.

Then all of a sudden she started heaving in her sleep and making a sort of sucking noise.

Her body was visably moving as she was doing whatever she was. It looked simular to the movements she made when she vomitted a few months ago.

I touched her paw, said her name, she opened her mouth and regurgitated this lump of green/brown muck! It smelt horrible (a bit like poo tbh) and looked like poo too! It had a lot of hair (her hair) and grass in it.

I rushed off to get something to clean it off the couch and she followed me. Now shes snoozing on the couch with me again.

She has been completely fine today and the last few days! Playing, eating, drinking! But that really freaked me out!!!

Any ideas what it could be? It was NOT vomit consistency. Much more solid, like a blob of soft poo.

I thought that! It was my first reaction! But then I thought, NO, only cats have hairballs!

It was horrible! The sucking noise must of been her struggling to breathe as it came up since she was sleeping. I'm glad I said her name to wake her up!

It literally just fell out of her mouth as she opened it!!!

No idea Amy, sounds pretty yuck.

    Is she a poo eater?

I have seen her eat poo before but I don't think she has eaten any today and it never usually bothers her.

    It was really yuck!

It definately wasn't bile. Was VERY solid. Like a soft poo. Was all brown and green and I think the hair and grass gave it the solid-ish texture!

Ergh, I'm feeling sick just thinking about it!

Check the dog's gums & if they're OK, there's nothing to worry about at this stage I suppose. I have an arrangement with my vet whereby I can send photos though to them of anything I'm worried about. It's a very quick process & saves us both a lot of time.

Thanks GSD! I've checked her gums and they are fine! She had dinner a while ago and is now running around playing with her toys!

Friends dog gets very car sick and vomits similar stuff. You'd swear it came out the other end only no smell. It's after she's been to my place and eats the liquid amber seed pods so thank god it happens at her house and not mine .
