    I am not a vet

I don't know AGB. I didn't know you could get a flea stopper in a chewy either.

Gawd - if only there was a pill I could take that would stop mozzies biting me.

I'll give the vet a call Thank you though! Should be almost closing time so hopefully there is one who is free who can talk to me.

Angela, why has Batty's hair just grown back. What was wrong with him?

The allergic reaction to the evil weed in my backyard? It's taken a while for the hair to grow back in. It was only the small patch at the side of his mouth

Angela, not all mange types are contagious.

I know, but I don't know what their dog has and probably won't be able to find out until after they've been to the vet.

I'm worried, but not in a complete panic and I do want to do all I can now IYKWIM.

Well, there are various spot on/tablet treatments for fleas etc that actually include protection against different types of mange.

I know Sentinel does, but I'm not sure what others out on the market these days cover it. Myf could certainly advise you of current monthly products containing mange protection.

If you're going to the vet anyway you can ask for a skin scraping to be done. Mites are easily visible under a microscope. Yes both sarcoptes and demodex are contagious.

Advocate is the best thing to use if you're not visiting a vet or unsure. It covers both varieties of mange mites and has a wide safety margin. You should check with a vet about combining it with other meds though.
