I have cortisone tablets on hand here and gave him one to try and minimise the obvious effects. It is close to impossible to put the cortavance spray on him, because it is so close to his nose/mouth. He doesn't seem to be in distress though...he is acting like the same goofy Sumo.

I woke up this morning and there was a big patch on his matress in the crate. I don't know if he has been licking and licking the same spot or he peed in his crate. He has NEVER peed in there, but it might just be the effect of the cortisone tablet...sigh

I have looked through the backyard with a fine-toothed comb to see if there are ANY weeds/plants he has been getting to...there is nothing. The only thing that has happened is...hubby mowed the lawns on the weekend and I gave him a shower last Friday using a special allergy shampoo. His coat on his back looks REALLY nice and shiny...he hasn't had bloody in his poop for a long time, so I don't think it is food related.

You hear that Blue Staffords have skin problems/conditions...well, Sumo Dad is blue (another reason for not using him for breeding). Long story short...we were told one Sire was his dad by the breeder and the owner of that Sire (a Brindle Champion) and when we got his paperwork...another Sire was stated on it (Blue non-Champion and owned by breeder) The Bitch had been serviced by 2 Sires.
I feel so sorry for my boy!
    WTF??? *Sigh*

Is it possible to spray the cortavance onto your hand then gently wipe it onto the area, or is it one of the ones that can't go anywhere near their mouths/faces?

Poor Sumo. I hope he heals up really quickly. It's so hard when you see things like this isn't it!

ETA: Why is Blue such a bad colour for Staffies?

The guy who owns the champion was at the breeders place when we went to get Sumo. He said...I own your boys Dad and he showed me a picture on his phone. His dog is called ******* Ultimate Warrior. The breeder said...Sumo's name is after his Dad, so they are connected that way...Sumo's pedigree name is Warrior Force.

We took Sumo home. I received the paperwork from Dogs NSW with change of ownership and didn't pay too much attention to the name I have to admit. That was until I received my monthly Dogs NSW magazine. I saw breeders litter in the litter list and it stated...3 pups from one Sire and I think 4 pups from the other Sire. I went...hang on a minute and got Sumo's paperwork out and it sure as hell do not state Ultimate Warrior on his paperwork. I phoned Dogs NSW, because I wanted proof as to WHICH bloody Sire was Sumo's Dad...they said that information is confidential and I said WTF! We are talking about MY dog and there MUST be some DNA proof. Dogs NSW said...I have to get that information from breeder. So we have contacted breeder MANY times...NOTHING! We also contacted breeder when we found out Sumo was so allergic to find out if Sire and Dam had problems....NOTHING! We were NEVER told the Dam had been serviced by 2 Sires
You know, it's scenarios like this that make me wish there was a public register somewhere listing ROTTEN, UNETHICAL, DISHONEST aholes like Sumo's breeder!!!

But back to the topic, have you ever considered or tried natural remedies for Sumo, such as homeopathic solutions? *Don't laugh*

I will NEVER breed my girl with a Sire that had blue in the lines...I don't want it introduced into my possible future breeding program.
I've seen too many of them to think they are rare .

Those reasons (IMO) are very understandable. I was more just curious about why it wasn't desirable from a show/breeding perspective. TBH I was expecting to be told that blue was something like a White Shepherd etc, not a properly recognised colour

Actually...now I think of it...I pulled out his hessian mattress again for his crate. It is always covered in a bed sheet. He has been sleeping on that for the last week or so...hmmmmmm
Well yeah, something has set the allergy off. The crappy part is pulling your hair out trying to figure out WHAT. Grr. Fell for you, and poor Sumo.
Hessian? Yuck, that affects ME badly! Lol. Can't even buy pottatoes if they're in those hessian sacks.

What do you washing his bedding in? Like washing powders.. That could be another reason.
