Angela, on my screen they are too blurry to really see anything. I'm sorry. I'd check with your vet if you don't know or aren't totally sure what it is.

Have you checked inside his mouth? How do his teeth look? It looks like an abcess.

Can you see it clearly Pugger? I can't see a damned thing.

Has he been in a scrape, any cats around Angela? Does it look like a tooth abcess that is building and needs to drain?

His teeth are white as normal, I've pressed on the gums around there and it doesn't seem to be causing him any pain at all. There are 3 small clear little red marks in the bald spot and what looks like tiny scratches but they could be from him rolling around on the concrete. It's not hot, doesn't seem to be bothering him at all (which is why I don't think it's an emergency).

It kind of does Cate. To be honest it looks like a reaction to something, I'm just not sure what. I can't find anything in the yard. Going out with the torch for a look out the front - he came out with me when I got the mail and stuck his head in one of the bushes out the front!

Any change in diet that he could have a reaction to?

Did you notice the spot before going out the front, Angela?

Angela, would it possibly be a hot spot? Is the area a little moist? My German Shepherd used to get a hot spot, over night there would be a section of skin become exposed, have little pimples in it and be moist. After a day or so, it would have a smell about it. Vet used to give us a spray to spray it with and an elizabethan collar which Zook hated.

No, but TBH I'm not suprised. It was about 4 hours after going out the front that I saw it. It was when I was brushing him and checking him over for ticks etc that I saw it. I finished brushing him, called the vets, checked the backyard and posted on here.

Is it possible it's Scurvy weed? Does that weed cause a kind of rashish looking reaction? I just found some growing under the tree he shoved his head in - damn bushes hiding weeds! I'm obviously not a gardener! Going back out to see if there's anything else I've missed. I'm really hoping that's all it is though!
