    Default *Big Scare*

Today I had one of the worst days of my life. My little Joey a 1 year old chihuahua got sick in the early hours of this morning and I thought he just had an upset tummy as he often gets them due to having such a poor diet before I rescued him. After spending many hours up with him I saw he wasn't getting any better when he had a liquid bowel movement (yuck) with small traces of blood.
At 8am I rang the vet and the first thing they said was that he probably has parvo.....I was distraught and very concerned. After going into the vet they weren't 100% sure so did some tests and told me to take him home and wait. He spent the day with my grandmother while I spent the day in Melbourne at a dr appt worrying about him.
Tonight he seems a bit better although he refused to eat, now I have another sleepless night ahead with him before I get his results.....I am so scared.

It's closer to Ballarat really. We're right in the middle of melb and ballarat.
Thanks GAG I really do hope for a negative. Have only ever had 1 other dog with it, but she was only 9 weeks old and seemed to be a bit off colour for a fewdays before she got really sick and ended up in the vet for weeks. I thought that they get sick slowly with parvo not overnight like lil joey

Thanks AF. He needs lots of cuddles at the moment. Have just spoken to the vet again as Joey vomitted (which he last did at about 1pm today) and it was specked with blood and he seems listless. Going to run down to the vet now as theyare becoming concern......and just when i thought he was getting better got to run now . we let you all know what happens as soon as I get back

Oh no, I hope he's okay, will be thinking of Joey - it's always harder the smaller they are, but chi's are little battlers.

I hope to hear encouraging news next time you post.

Sorry dogmad, that was cold of me, having my own personal freak out from your actual distress. Fingers crossed that lil Joey is back to full health in no time.
