thats ok SPRV. Just got back from the vet and seems Joey has the vet just as puzzled as he has me. Vet said they could keep him ovenight for me but that a vet only comes in evey 4 hours to check on them so I decided I would rather have him at home where I can sit up all night with him if needed. Vet has given him an injection for the pain and something to settle the stomach but seeing as they don't know what is wrong he is unsure if it will help. Joey seems comfortable for now snuggled up in my bed but is not happy that he can't have his friends to snuggle with.....looks like a long night, not that I would have got much sleep due to worrying.

I know how you feel.. When Boss ate rat bait, I didnt sleep for 3 days until he had the all clear..

Set your alarm on your phone for everyone 20mins so if you fall asleep you will wake up

Parvovirus is a deadly disease Boxerini. Affects mainly young puppies and dogs under 2, although older dogs can contract it.

It is the one disease in dogs that ppl wish they could wipe off the face off the earth. The smell of Parvo is one that I would never want to smell again in my lifetime!

There is a particular smell that is associated with the disease Parvo. It is like no other smell. A dog can have diahhorrea from gastroenteritis, food he/she has eaten, other illnesses, but there is no diahhorrea that has a smell like Parvovirus does. It is...horrible. And unforgettable.

Parvo attacks the lining of the tract. The intestines can't absorb food as their digestive ability (their villi) are killed, kind of...scraped out? How to put it without sounding disgusting? The blood in their diahhorrea is caused by this, and hence the smell that's unlike any other.
They can't eat or drink, therefore they end up dying from dehydration.

That is a rather simple way of putting it, I'm sorry, but hopefully understandable?

Joey was sick all of last night and has not eaten or drank anything, but the good part is that the parvo test is back and is negative.......thank god. Joey is still very ill and was taken to the vet an hour ago to be put on a drip the vets will try to figure out what is wrong today while i'll be worrying. thankyou all for your kind thoughts

Oh Lord. Very relieved it isn't parvo. Now they need to ascertain what it is he HAS got. God speed them finding the problem!

Thoughts are with you Dogmad. All the best wishes and positive vibes I can give.
