Thread: I Need Help with Sick Puppy!!!

Default I Need Help with Sick Puppy!!!

Hello, I have a 7 month old puppy. Yesterday he had diarrhoea, and today he still has it and it's all watery and he has just now vomited up what looks like tan coloured mashed potato.

I haven't fed him today and I have been making sure he has plenty of fresh water. I know it's not worms because he was wormed at the vet two weeks ago. I really don't know what to do! Any help would be great. Should I take him to the vet or wait and see how he is doing?

    Regards, Rachel.

Call the vet and tell them and see what they reckon. Hope he's ok.

I 2nd what Ruthless says.. phone the vet and follow their recommendations. I'd say they will ask you come in though.

it's possible he has the symptoms of a contractde disease, but it's also quite possible he has just simply eaten something that didn't agree with him, or has upset his stomach.

TBH I don't rush off to the vet every time a dog gets diahhorrea. Just as I don't rush off to the doctor's every time I do, or my family does.

One question though, I assume your dog has been vaccinated???

Yes he just had his last vaccination two weeks ago. He gets diarrhoea every now and then, but I just put that down to him being a puppy and trying to eat everything he sees! This time, however, I am concerned because it's all watery and he has never vomited up big chunks before. I was worried if he might have bloat but I don't know all the symptoms. Maybe I'm just being neurotic

If he's vomited up big chunks then it hasn't been digested much, just sitting in his stomach. WHAT HAS HE EATEN PRIOR TO YOU FASTING HIM TODAY?

The last thing he ate was his normal dry food which is Purina Puppy. I have just made an appointment with the vet as I just found blood in his diarrhoea. Now I am really worried.

blood in poop = not good

    get puppy to vet asap

It could be colitis and gastroentiritis
