    Default Dog Being Recently Neutered!!

    Hey guys

I have recently had my male dog neutered, anyhow I am wondering does anyone know how to tell if his wound is infected?

Also since he has had this done he seems very uncomfortable and can't stay still, he has to scratch his mouth/eye or bite his foot etc... which is causing them to bleed sometimes. Any suggestions please?

Since he seems very uncomfortable...a trip to the vet might be warranted!

Infected wounds will be swollen, red, hot...just like a wound on a human.

Is there any physical sign around the wound that is making you suspect it could be infected?

Does he feel hot, as if he's got a temperature? Touch his belly where there is little fur and see how hot he is. Is it normal, or hotter than usual?

When was the operation performed, please?

Around the wound its all red and swolen, however the actual wound looks a little yellow.

His sac has been full looking like he hasnt been desexed however it drains out every so often. His belly feels quite normal.

The operation was performed on 19/01/10.

infection...get him to the vets immediately!

If you had had surgery and the wound was red, swollen with yellow discharge...would you seek medical attention? It would hurt like hell!

The stitches are dissolvable ones and the were gone the next day due to him licking them.

It isn't a yellow discharge, its more clear with a tinge of red!

Definitely get him to the vet. Every foster I've had come through here has been desexed either while with me or just before arriving here. They have all had everything settled and cleared by around the 6th-8th day - no swelling or redness.

It sounds like an infection so get him off to the vet and get him checked out.
