Default Oscar Having a Day at the Vet's

Oscar, my little munchkin...a silky x.... is having a day in hospital today. He is a diabetic, on daily insulin, and needs to have blood sugar tests throughout the day. When checked the other day, his was up to 24, very high. Oscar is 10 and as blind as a bat, due to the diabetes, tho he manages extremely well around the house. However, when I took him to the vet last time, he didn't wait for me to open the door, he banged right into it. LOL. He also has a lump on his chest which the vet checked. She said it will most likely grow and fall off leaving an ulcerated area...noice!!! They were unable to remove it due to his unstable diabetes. Anyways, today I found him trying to remove it himself...the top has gone. Deary me, what next???

Well Dogsrule, kids will try to eat warts off, won't they? They don't see anything gross about it; they just want it gone.

What exactly is the lump, though? Did the vet give the lump a name or explain further what it is? Depending what it is, it could be frozen off in an instant.

No, the vet didn't give it a name. It started off as a soft lump, then became harder and bigger. It was only on the skin.....not much left of it now. He did a good job. LOL

Thanks Clea and Di but it all turned out a big fizzer. He was so excited at going for a drive and seeing dogs/people that when I got him into the vet, he vomited twice...bluddy kids. Of course they couldn't go on with the tests so came home again. He is booked in again for Monday so I'll give him some rescue remedy first. The vet said that should be OK.

Well he's a good boy then! Lol.

Hope all is well with him after tests today, and that he is coping with it okay.
