Default Hi My Dog is Fat

any way to make my dog lose weight?ive taken him for long walks before everyday for months but he still wasnt losing weight so i gave up.ive been feeding him healthy lately and stuff but he has a very heavy build on him for a staffy,he is much bigger than the average staffy.so maybe its his big build that makes him put on weight?????????

had to drop weight off my boy at one stage and just cut his meals back and started feeding him twice a day instead of once, but just divided him meal in half.

i dont have any pics at the moment but later i might try to upload some to my computer,im not very good with computers so i dont know.staffys are normally stocky but he is much taller and bigger than average staffys so that might be his disadvantage.he will just not lose weight no matter what! he mostly eats twice a day and eats bones, raw meat, chicken necks ect

    Hi Blue Gama,

How much overweight is he, please? As in kilos?

has he always been on the diet he is on now, or did you used to feed him another diet?
How old is he? Is he de-sexed?

Is he being walked regularly (like daily) or only during periods where you are trying to get weight off him?

All these things will help ppl here to get a better 'picture' of the reason your dog is overweight, first.

    Good questions DA.
There is a fancy way of working it out.
You go your dogs weight in kilos, X 30 + 70.
It will tell you how many calories he should be eating a day and then you should be able to work it out from there.
But remember, he has to be regurly walked and fed appropriately.

you might need to start feeding him dry biscuits - the lite and mature blend

Thats what my old boy was on
