Cut back on the amount of food you are giving him, some of the meat might have more fat than you realise - although it's hard to say if he's overweight without seeing him.

I had a "Tubbalarde" (at least that's the breed I used to call him - just say it out loud teehee). I could have sworn he wasn't a big eater, he always seemed to just pick food. That was when I was lazy and put down communal food bowls for the gang. He got bigger and bigger and bigger.....I thought he had a thyroid problem, then due to having a gobbleguts come and stay with me I had to start feeding individually - turns out my "Tubbalarde" was INHALING the food. Over a year I've reduced his weight by about a third (yes I know, naughty naughty mummy for letting him get like that). Now he just looks oh so sexy!

ok well he eats chicken necks, chicken ribs, chunks of random meat, big bones off cows ect.one of my dogs is NOT full staffy she is a quater rhodesian ridgeback which is why she is so fit(i think).and i read off the internet that commerical dog food is the main reason for most dog health problems so im not sure about the dry biscuits.oh and he keeps showing aggression towards my other dog,i kicked him in the ribs when he does it and he runs in his kennel, but he still does it but not as much now

Ah, blue gama, you kicked your dog in the ribs for showing aggression, huh?

Are you serious or are you just winding me up???

And who is going to kick you in the ribs because of your aggression?

Do not ****ing kick your dog in the ribs. That's not exactly the best way to deal with the problem.

    Default Hi

jeez you guys are all softies, you have to realize that not all dogs are spoilt like your dogs, farmers kill their dogs if they show too much aggression.anyway i only kick them if they be aggressive.a few weeks ago my staffy growled at me when i went near his food so i punched him in the face and he shut up.lately he has been showing signs that he is trying to take over as boss,he is friendly and all but sometimes growls.lots of people even KILL their dogs if they show aggression, farmers kill their livestock dogs if they give up from a fight with a wolf you know?and sled races kill one of their dogs if they are not fast enouph.my uncles dogs got bitten by a snake and were gonna die so instead of taking them to hospital he shot them.i am not mean i just make sure they behave.you have to learn about wolf behaviour

    I agree with this!

However........You need to be educated about how to treat your animals! There are other ways to discipline that dont involve violence in ANY WAY OR FORM!

    blue gamma

If you kick your dog - you're an abuser.

If you don't separate your dogs when you feed them and they're resource guarders - you're an animal abuser, in my opininon

If you feed your dog too much - you're an animal abuser.

There are new better ways to correct dog aggression. But if your dog is super greedy - you can't feed him in company with any other dog. You must separate feed him separately.

And as far as diet goes, try feeding him 2/3 of what you do now, measure/weigh it. And if you feel it's not enough - have a high quality dry dog biscuit for top up - and if he won't eat it, he's had enough food already.

But given what you think is ok as far as dog treatment goes, I'm going to ignore you or I will go nuts.
