Thread: Lipoma???or Worse...

    Unhappy Lipoma???or Worse...

I found a lump on Misi today.

I'm sure you guys know what i'm thinking.....

Just wanted to ask if it could be Lipoma? ( fat cells lump).

The lump is the size of a thumb nail. Not coloured, crusty-same as the rest of the skin. What scared me more is that its about 1cm away from one of her teats.

She's seeing the vet tomorrow, but any thoughts will be much appreciated.

From what I understand, if it's not attached, there's nothing to worry about. Mish has one on her back. I can get my fingers between it & her fur. I understand it's called a "floating cyst". Best to get it checked out though. Good luck.

    Wow! that was quick
    Ok! Thank you!
I'm really trying to think positive but the last time i found a small lump on my dog (5years ago) she was dead from cancer within months as nothing could be done, so now I just freak out.....

Oh Mags, *Big hugs* try not to worry to much just yet. Our old family dog used to have a few large fatty tissue lumps (Big one on his belly and a couple of small ones on his back), the vet never removed them as it didnt bother Max and he was just to old to be having surgery that wasnt necessary. Im sure it will be all good once you see the vet tomorrow, will be thinking about you guys! Xx

Hey Mags Big to you all,
I don't know if it's the same thing, But Charlie has a fist size fatty lump on his belly, Vet has checked it and said it's not causing pain and it's nothing to worry about, We also took him to 2 other vets just to make sure, they said the same thing. But we get it checked every time we go to the vets and are still told the same thing

I found a lump on Boofy a few months back. It was on his hind leg near his butt. It looked like a mole type wart type thing. I thought I'd get it checked out to be sure. David, my Vet, wasn't sure what it was and so we decided to play it safe and have it removed and tested.

It turned out to be a mast cell tumour. Thankfully it was only grade 1. There are three grades to MCT's - 1, 2 and 3.... 3 is deadly. Grade 1 meant that once it was removed and with clear margins around it, no other treatment was neccessary.

It worries me though... Boof isn't yet 7 years of age and that was our first scare with him. I hope it is our last. He's one of those dogs that have heaps of skin tags and spots and freckles.... I am always looking at them now!
