I think I would give the vet a call ASAP... Other than that, just keep her under observation for 24 hours just in case...

Kuro can be a worry at times. He is like lightning when we drop things on the floor.. He is straight there and then runs straight out the dog door to the back yard.. Got a fright the other morning when I got up at 4am to go to work and first thing I do is go to the kitchen to take my pills and as I tried to get a pill out, I dropped the container on the bench and a few pills landed on the floor .. My reaction was to crash tackle the dog before he could get to the pills !! Fastest I ever moved that early in the morning..

Yikes Mitte...that'd be a worry with the pills! I could see you crash tackling Kuro in your pj's too..hehe

Ok, I called the vet and he said there shouldn't be anything to worry about. I just have to keep an eye on her. She's certainly showing no signs of illness .

Choppa...when I told mum....she told me I used to eat soap too when I was little...(didn't stop my potty mouth though...lol)!!

Four socks...LOL @ bubble farts ..I wonder if they'd still smell like soap?

Conclusion........LOOK properly before you leap Annette!!!!! LOL

She didn't eat it...phewwwwwwwwww (@ me...). My daughter just found the bar of soap under the washing machine about 10 minutes ago
I really thought she did eat it as I found the soap dish in the yard (I was cleaning the laundry sink before I had to go out unexpectedly and I couldn't find the soap! I certainly wouldn't put it past her...I bet she did try to eat it, but it slipped under the washing machine!

I was camping in the kimberleys, and several of my fellow campers reported soap that they leave out for washing hands (about 3 bars - different families), and one pair of washing up gloves had disappeared. We figured it was one or more dingos. Many soap bars are made out of animal fat or similar (remember fight club the movie?) and are very attractive to dogs. I suspect Velvet type soap wouldn't do any harm but something with more interesting chemicals like Dove or Imperial Leather might. It would have similar effect to eating a large lump of fat - my puppy would get the runs for a day or two and end up on the boiled chicken and rice diet until things returned to normal.

My puppy's favourite contraband is toilet paper, and I keep forgetting to put it back on the window sill where she can't reach it. And yes, the cardboard roll gives her the runs...

As long as it wasn't a particularly harsh soap that contained bleach or similar, it wouldn't hurt her anyway. Soap eating is a common dog trait believe it or not. Apparently they are attracted to it because it contains wool fat or something?? I can't recall what the ingredient is now.
