Thanks for the info tkandz. Sorry to hear about Kodi , i can understand the distress associated with the condition.

The last attack Demi had was very similar to the seizures you described, in that it would happen straight after getting up and she would lose control of her bladder. But I haven't noticed any diarrhoea and the blood test she had when she had her first VS (or whatever is happening) attack was normal. She was doing the retching thing on one occasion after eating, but that's only happened once over the last 3 weeks. I'll mention these things to the vet when I take her back next week for her next arthritis injection.

How has Demi been the last week?

She's been getting along pretty well. I think she's done all the improving she's going to do but she's happy, eating plenty and walking/jogging around most days. So we're happy. Just have to hope she can keep it up.

    Hi all,

It's been a while since I last posted.

Sadly, Demi passed away last night. She had another bout of seizures/vestibular syndrome but this time her back legs went and it was clear that she wasn't going to recover so we had to do what was best for her. Thankfully our vet made a home visit and while it was obviously very sad, everything went smoothly and she went very peacefully.

I just wanted to thank everyone who has provided assistance and support through this forum. Demi had a very happy last couple of months, probably her happiest during the last 12 months, and having people to speak to regarding her health and happiness definitely made things a lot easier for us.

It will no doubt take a while to accept that she's gone but I'm sure we will get another dog in the not too distant future and I look forward to introducing him/her
to you all at some point.

    Cheers,

    Brenton

So sorry to hear that Demi's time has finally come. But glad you could make the last months of her life more fun for her.

I am not looking forward to when I have to make a decision like that.

So very sorry to be reading your post BPear.
I hope you take comfort in the fact that you gave Demi some great few months.
Always such a hard decision to make but sometimes it's your only option.

Sorry to hear such sad news about Demi Brenton. I know you have done everything possible to make Demi's last few months with you as comfortable and safe as humanly possible. I clearly remember reading about your story in the 'other' forum ( now closed ).
Remember all the great times you shared with each other, and please let us know when you decide to start a new chapter in your life with a new best mate..
Wishing you well into the future,
    Mitte.

I am so sorry to hear about Demi. It must have been such an awful decision to make but I'm sure she lived a long, wonderful life with a very loving family

We lost one of our babies in March, it was absolutely heartbreaking. We waited 3 weeks and then visited a rescue and adopted a new family member - it definitely helped us heal and made us feel like Tonka's sudden passing (he was only 2) had a 'meaning' and 'purpose' - so we could save another life

    Please take care of yourself.
