Default Pet Insurance for dogs... breedist...

    Hi all

Just wanted to let you know about this - at me di bnk pet insurance they have in their breed list
    Australian Cattle Dog
    and
    Australian Heeler

and the heeler is $2 per fortnight cheaper than the cattle dog - go figure

The "unknown breed" is nearly $15 per fortnight more. Possibly cos that's what pitbull owners choose? Except Pitbull is listed as a valid choice.

    http s://pet.me diban k.com.au/Pages/Application/Default.aspx

So if you can find multiple names for your dog breed - try them all and pick the cheapest...

Tho I suspect my current insurance renewal may still be cheaper.

I've got a promo code valid till end of November 2014 if anyone wants it - send me a message.

I have all of mine with medibank and I thought I would have a different one for harry........well some sounded cheaper, but would not cover the same things. I have had nothing but good results from Medibank so far and katy is $7000.00 ahead.......RSPCA was more expensive for a newfie. They charge fornightly, I was quite surprised.
Not sure if you can use the promo codes with dogs already on.yussie is due again in October

My mother decided to get RSPCA insurance for her dog and signed my boy up at the same time, wasn't aware it actually varied by breed.

Good news is they all have a breed list Problem is and I have asked this of both underwriters..............so which dog should I get for the cheapest insurance? Cant get a straight answer. I have to name the breed and they will tell me the cost.

I just sit there picking different breeds on the quote page and refreshing - hence the differences found between mutt, cattle dog, heeler and the crosses of these...

it's batshit really. What's the healthiest longest lived dog you can think of? For me it is the heeler/cattle dog. It does seem a bit nuts they have them as separate breeds.

Yeah well I have argued this point and others over and over with them. I had the underwriter at Petplan responding right through the night to my emails prior to publishing my review. Must have been 2am where she was- trying to convince me I got it wrong and how great their policy was I only wanted straight answers.

Just had a thought since there is a couple of threads on pet insusrance............If anyone wants to "Have Their Say on Insurance" I have a survey on my homepage (under the nav bar) that I want to present to both underwriters once I have been inundated with responses. I intend to keep up the pressure on insurers to see if we can get more people with iit and the only way this is likely to happen is if "They" look at the areas pet owners are not happy with. One insurer was not impressed with my fb statements of fact regarding thie policy on their page and suggested I should be careful as facebook dont like that sort of thing.

Maybe some pet owners might like to do it and share the link with other pet owners to do the same. Only takes a couple of minutes

I would avoid petplan because they're backed by All ianz

and the point of insurance is you can get help paying for vet services should something unexpected and expensive happen...

so in my experience - not much point being with anything backed by All nz - all for them and nothing for me. And I've seen that experience repeated many times with them on various policies.

Dont know much about their other policies as I have only read their pet insurance one. You would probably find the review I have done on my forum of some interest.

I cannot find the review you have done on your forum. You will have to give me a clue about where it is, cos it's not linked off your home page and your forum doesn't have a category for insurance reviews.

The survey did not seem to have a spot where you put what policy you have - tho I haven't done it yet so not sure if its included later.
