    Yikes.

I'd be putting on the antibiotic and then covering that over with aloe vera - tho not sure about the drying properties of that. It does dry out, it is good for preventing scarring and promoting healing of wounds. And so is honey - but he'd need the cone of shame to prevent that from getting onto everything and making a sticky mess.

I guess the isopropyl alcohol would work too. I mostly use that to clean the windscreen where I want to put the GPS. Metho would probably work too. OR ethanol. Just don't drink it. Might sting. At least Aloe or honey don't sting.

PS Salt water would definitely sting.

It's in a green bottle (with a crocodile I think) in the medicine section of the supermarket. Sometimes if they're really big spots (like Mojos), you need some antibiotic tablets but isocol works really well in stopping the spots from growing when they first appear.

Give Mojo a big hug for me and I hope the big teddy bear is feeling better soon
Pleased to see 'Kristy.Maree' saw your post and gave the above answer !

This is the one you are looking for:

    Isocol

Poor Mojo - that looks really uncomfortable ! Maybe get some Isocol and test try it on a small part of the hotspot ?

Heaps of healing hugs from us as well !

    Thanks again guys !!

I've been pretty good at catching them early with the Listerine method i've been using but i was slack with this one....

MMJ... top idea with the saltwater....i've always believed ocean water does wonders for the body. Since i surf a bit i never get infected cuts or the like. As a young fella i would get severe 'sea ulcers' from my flippers and they turned into huge holes on both ankles .... bleeding like mad every day i went in. But they where always so clean and healed well after a bit of a break until i'd rip them open again the next weekend. This went on for years but they never got infected. LOL.. the price one pays for mad bodysurf sessions on the shore dumps.

This arvo i'm taking him across the road for a swim (lucky we live right across the road from the beach) and will keep it up for the next few days. Cheers for the reminder.

Thanks for all the other tips and well wishes guys and gals.

How is Mojo going with his hot spot ?

I still think it would be worthwhile to try what ‘Kristy.Maree’ suggested !

Then - there is also Manuka Honey:

Hope the Hunk is getting and feeling better !

What a smart pup the Hunk is ?

But I thought that the hot spot was on the side of his head - nowhere near nor affecting his legs !

    Cheeky bugger !

Good to hear it's clearing up Sean, although it will sting a bit, stick to making him swim in the ocean daily. Salt water is good, ocean water is magic!
