    Default Expired dry food

    Hi everyone,

I usually feed a mix of raw food and dry food (generally black hawk or wellness) and today I went to the pet store to buy some wellness for the dogs and cat... I usually pay $40 for a 2.27kg bag but today they had a heap of bags due to expire on the 9th September for just $5 a bag... I bought 6 bags all up (3 dog, 3 cat) and spent just $30 on what would usually cost me $240! My question is, will this food hold past it's expiry date? Wellness has no artificial preservatives, does that mean that maybe I shouldn't feed it? Or will the natural preservatives be fine? The guy at the store said it would be fine to feed for a few more months.
If it will be okay to keep feeding, I might go back tomorrow and buy some more to donate to the rescue I foster for...

    Thanks

    Maybe these links will help:

Do Food Expiration Dates Really Matter?

If the packaging is not damaged and you are careful regarding storage (cool and dry) - check smell and look of the food when using - should be OK for a few months. smiley-eatdrink004.gif

Thanks Riley I actually went back yesterday and they had ones that don't expire until late November for $10 instead, so I stocked up on them and will give the earlier expiring ones to the rescue as they will go through them a lot quicker than I can!
