I personally wouldnt pay too much attention to all that. There has been so much mixing and blending of genetic pools. My dogs all seem to do well on what I feed them regardless of breed. They all get the same, just different quantities. So far that seems to have worked.

I dont believe pohms would feed that to a dog, because they couldnt afford to. You really really fed cheap crap to a dog if you were working class up to 2003, when i legged it.

well before 1890 what on earth did dogs eat - no canned or dry dog food then but now its a multi billion dollar industry -

look in Coles at canned food for humans then look in the pet food area

What a lot of wank. My breed isn't in there. But I looked at Afghans, which historically in some traditional areas were largely fed on camel milk and dates, little else. And no mention of that at all. He has taken some vague geographical info about what meat animals might be living in the region, and based their feeding on that. Rubbish. No real knowledge of breed history come through in his writings at all.

And he recommends feeding avocados to Salukis?? Avocados can be toxic to dogs...
