I have only ever hosed them off after the beach.
Just do not believe in using soap etc on dogs unless
they have rolled in cracked rotten duck eggs (Looking at you, Snoopy)!

Only if they roll in something otherwise never. They all have sleek shiny coats so I dont bother. They dont get brushed either. Well maybe my cattle dogs get brushed a couple of times when are blowing their coats, but the rest are super short coated.

Last year I bought a wellness package from the vet and it included 4 hydro baths, so she had 4 of them, and maybe 1 or 2 quick washes from me.

We go to the beach quite often and I hose her off when we get home, if the sprinkler is on she will stand over it. Quite often in summer we have hose sessions, she loves water.

My smaller dogs I used to bath regularly, about 6-8 weeks between, they had longer hair and did smell if they weren't washed!

My dogs get a proper bath every couple of months unless Bella chooses to go and roll in mud, then she has more regular baths. They are under the hose regularly though. In winter it is rare for them to have a bath at all... too cold.

There is no psychiatrist in the world like a puppy licking your face.

Interestingly, Bernie (long haired GSD got his first bath at 4yrs of age, along with Pohm about 3 months ago.
I will not be repeating this. the coat was crap afterwards. Dull, felt dry and brittle and the dogs were itchy. It was tangly and matted way too easily. Was difficult to groom with brushes, the furminator was a no go. And they smelt bad too. Like some cheap whore. I dont like perfume on any animal, human and especially dog!

I dont understand why your dogs fur went dull, dry and brittle after the bath, my dogs don't go like that at all... quite the opposite actually. After a bath, both of my dogs fur goes really soft, shiny and silky and neither of the dogs get itchy afterwards

i very rarely bath mine, coat is brilliant. The only time i will is if we have been camping in an area that is notorious for ticks i sometimes give her a wash while
doing a tick check (even though i treat for ticks, i'm kinda paranoid)

Nero was bathed twice. He hates it and I reckon he doesn't need it anyway. Roxy on the other hand has baths about twice a month because she loooves to roll in shit. No problems with her coat after a bath though. We use oatmeal dog shampoo and she comes out really fluffy, soft and smells delicious.
