Default (HELP) Something wrong with golden retriever (HELP)

My 9 year old golden retriever, Harry has something wrong with his hip, He seems to have trouble sitting down and whines like crazy. His left hind leg is all stiff And he can't bend it. he is also acting very weird, he walks around in circles and doesn't come when we call him, he also ignores our schipperkie, Taz when he usually plays with him. Please help, what's wrong with him? Thanks in advance.

Someone may be able to suggest likely causes but the simple answer is you need to take your dog to the vet ASAP.

Sorry mate but it sounds like he's in some pretty serious pain with a genetic condition called hip displaysia. It happens when the ball of the dog's femur doesn't fit into the pelvic socket. The older the dog is, the more at risk of showing symptoms they are. Purebred retrievers and labradors are very prone to this condition.

Has he gained weight recently? The heavier he is, the more strain on his back legs. Try to make him lose some weight to reduce the amount his legs have to carry. He may even have dislocated his hip, so an immediate visit to the vet is crucial to help stop his pain.

It's not hip displaysia, definitely. it doesn't look like his pain is too bad, he walks normally on the other 3 legs, we're taking him to the vet tomorrow but i have a strong feeling that it's osteoarthritis, its a condition caused by damp weather and causes strange behavior changes we had his coat cut short 'cause we thought the weather was gonna warm up but the spring rains haven't stopped and he looks pretty cold. he sleeps indoors now. PS. he was walking normally until about 2 days ago when his leg messed up. He gained some weight a couple of weeks ago, but he's been back to normal for about a week, he is very healthy and exercises a lot. he hasn't jumped from any high places lately.

Hi 'Aidanw2000' - was going to get the welcome sign out - But !

Have you taken your dog to a vet - or does 'Mr Google' give you all your answers ?

    You said -

The only thing here that I am pleased to read is this:

    '
we're taking him to the vet tomorrow'.

For your dog's sake - I really and truly hope that you will do exactly what you have said and take this poor dog to a vet !!!!!

That is really good news - but - as far as advice goes - the vet is really the best option !

Fingers crossed your vet visit goes ok. Could it even be dislocated? Has he had any accidents that you know of that might have injured it?
